My first topic.....here goes Hi, were off somewhere at the end of the month but cant decide where. were a family with 2 toddlers. like the beach, nice towns, things to do and see and maybe the odd day out where the kids can go nuts playing. we like places like newquay, st ives, cardigan and so on. However we keep finding ourselves in the same places and i wondered if anyone had any hidden gems or good ideas. We are based in nottinghamshire but dont mind traveling. we ideally want somewhere we can spend a week with plenty to do (especially if its raining). we need a site with basic facilities ie water, shower. a park and so on is a bonus. thanks in advance

Are you going in the school holidays? If so, you may find that the popular sites are already sold out. However, if you can find space i would suggest River Dart or Inside Park at Blandford Forum or Greenacres in Somerset.

If Christchurch is full, Bracelands is bound to have space, which is next door. Great sites, loos let them down alittle, but great for family camping as it should be.

Hillend on the Gower is great.
Google it - that's how I found it!
It never used to take bookings, only does tents, has a designated family field and is close enough to Swansea for plenty to do.
It's next to Rossilli Bay too!
Enjoy!

Come to North Norfolk,
It's fab, drier than down south this year too!
Nice towns with beaches, Sheringham, Cromer, Wells,
Stately homes/gardens/woods at Felbrigg, Holkham, Sandringham
Tank museum, shire horses, fishing, leisure pool at Sheringham,
Extreeme adventure (like GoApe but bigger!0, or Bewilderwood if kids are smaller,
Save room in the car and ring my dad for bike hire!

Holt is great for unusual shops and lovely pubs.
Can you tell we love it!
My avatar is the Poppy Dog running on Sheringham Beach.
------------- Yes, the car is bigger than the 'van.

Don't be an M5 lemming. Have a change and head east to Norfolk or Suffolk. Drier climate, a host of things to do and see and the sites are inclined to be a bit cheaper than the west country. Use the "Anywhere on the Map" facility on the Campsite search and you'll be spoilt for choice..........Mick

I was going to suggest North Norfolk too, loads to do, and whilst I cant promise it wont rain, we do tend to have better drier weather than the rest of the country.
