Visiting family on the island and much prefer my tent to the guest rooms... Is the weather improving enough that we wont be camping all by ourselves? Is anybody else camping on Anglesey at the moment or next week? How bad is it?? Haven't booked yet but thinking Blackthorn Farm nr Holyhead or a site near Lligwy beach, it'll be ok won't it? Won't it???

Better check before you go. We were supposed to be going to a THS near Church Bay and it has been cancelled because the field is waterlogged. Ring a site before you go to be sure.

Can highly recommend White Lodge near Newborough beach we were here just a couple of weeks ago.  If the weather is rubbish you can take shelter in their outstanding cafe/restaurant for dinner (Marram Grass), breakfast or cake and coffee - the food is wonderful.  One of the friendliest sites we've ever stayed at and we only paid £18 per night inc hook up for 4 of us!  Free Wifi in the cafe too

p.s Ratty I will leave a review very shortly ; )

Fiona, I will agree with you about the cafe (Marram Grass) we had a cottage just up the road when my daughter was carrying the torch in Bangor. (Remember that hot spell at the end of May????) We went to the cafe for a meal and its out of this world. The lads that run it for the family are so friendly and the food is more than first class. Its gourmet food. I had the sea bass and my OH had the biggest dish of Anglesey mussels you have ever seen. The presentation was wonderful and it tasted superb.

We have had our fair share of the bad weather and some sites have suffered!

Blackthorn Farm although a very nice site I think is very expensive and the ground is contoured so some pitches would be drier than others.

Llanfair Bach - which is within walking distance of the retail park and Penrhos Nature reserve has sloping pitches and I have seen tenters on there over the past month or so ( I walk past on a regular basis) and they are very cheap.

I am sure there are lots on the Island that are ok but I can only tell you about the ones local to me! :)
