Wirral country park is a bit off the beaten track for public transport.

Nearest station is West Kirby which has pay and display parking close by but its a drive away from Thurstaston.

There's a CL/CS at Meols which is near the station but has mixed reviews.

Have a look at Southport, Ainsdale or Formby point, I think the rail stations are probably walkable (depends on mobility of course) and will have frequent trains to liverpool.

I found Hoylake to be the best Park and Ride for Liverpool. it was 10 mins drive from Wirral Country Park and parking was plentiful and free, with a train every 15 to 20 minutes.
