Just had a phone call from Park resorts who we have booked two weeks starting Saturday they said the site we had picked is water logged and would we like to change to another site don't know what to do we picked this site as it is right on the beach the other is in land should we chance it and wait we get there on Saturdat to decided we are travelling from Manchester so it is a long way to go ?

None of their sites are far from the beach. Thorness Bay and Nodes point have direct access and the other two are only 10 minutes away. IOW is so small that you're never far from a beach anyway, assuming the weather improves
Lower Hyde does not have beach access but it is close to Sandown and Shanklin which are both very good beaches - especially if you have children. I haven't camped on this site but stayed in a chalet there a few years back.

They said we could wait until we get there to decide but if we wait they might not have any pitches left even though they say there will be as you say its peak times
We stayed a Thorness Bay last year and the beach is not up to much that why we picked Nodes Point because it is right on the beach no need to take the car or pay for parking
we've stayed at lower hyde for the past 7 years, never had a complaint about the site and facilities, Thorness bay is a nice site but have to agree with the beach not being the best. i dont think you'll be disappointed if you go to lower hyde, this year we've booked for the caravan club, Southlands on the island, just hoping we dont get the call to say they are flooded :-(
