Hi Everyone,

After our 2nd season with our touring van we are considering (but can't decide yet) looking for a seasonal pitch for next season, i.e from March 2013. Can anyone recommend a site in Hampshire or East Dorset that has seasonal pitches? We have searched on here but its always good to have some other comments and personal views. We need somewhere with EHU and that also will store the van during the closed season as we can't keep it at home

Our reasons for looking at this is that we love the van but with a 18 month old find getting away for weekends a bit stressful nightmare (the van is kept in storage and we can't keep it at home) so tend to only go away for a week at the time at the moment. This year we will be spending around £800 in site fees plus another £400 for storage. Adding in fuel this compares about the same to a seasonal around £1500 per year and if its within 1hr-1.5hr from home I think we would make more use of it for weekend breaks. Also as the OH doesn't tow she could pop down there the weekends I am working again making more of the van. With the van set up on a site it would be easy to go direct from work on a Friday and spend a weekend away....well thats what we are thinking

We have contacted a few just outside the new forest (Wimbourne / Ringwood area) and hope to go and look at them in a couple of weeks.

We are tempted to try it for one season and thought we could still take the van off for a few weeks somewhere else if we got really bored!!

Would welcome any advice from people who have a seasonal pitch on what to look for when viewing sites!

Cheers

Darren

If you could manage about 50 miles further west, I can recommend Andrewshayes caravan park on the A35 near Axminster. They have full seasonals and part seasonals and storage with tow outs.

Hi "Dorset Belle"

Thanks for the link. The site looks great but unfortunatly its a bit out of our range from Berkshire. We would like something within 1-1.5hrs from Berkshire so we can make use of it for weekends, etc. There seems a real shortage of good seasonal sites around south Hampshire and the Dorset borders but loads in West Dorest / into Devon! Some sites we have spoken to are charging around £3k which is out of our price range but we have found 3 or 4 so far that we could afford and hope to go down to visit them this Saturday............but we are still looking so any other recomendations are still welcome !

We still can't decide if we will go for it but I think a lot will depend on us finding the right site

Have you looked at Gundry's Farm ?

They are advertising £1500  for seasonal pitch.

And they do storage.

Just west of Ringwood at Three Legged Cross.

Thanks ...this one is on our possible list and we are hoping to visit this weekend. Have you ever stayed there? There have been mixed reviews on here about the site so I am not sure if it will be for us or not but as we are going to be in the area will give it a look (some seem to love it but a lot of reviews last year mention the toilet block and the OH is used to CC standard blocks!). The C&CC site at Verwood is another possible but I am not sure I like the lottery of having to apply on a first come / first served basis each year and having the pitch alloated on arrival......at least with a private site you can see your pitch before agreeing to pay and most of them give you 1st refusal for the following year.

Security barrier to get in and out, closed at 10.30pm.

Young children friendly site.

New toilet block. Free showers from 6 30 am.

Very well managed site.
