Try a search on the West coast of Wales from Porthmadog to Barnmouth there are a few that do allow campfires and there's RAF bass at Harlech regular training flights drown flights etc and air museum of sorts nearby ( never been so not sure how good it is). Lots of other attraction for little one farm parks beach etc

We do have windy days but we do have calm days - we have hot days we have wet days.

The Anglesey Outdoor Centre site is near to the coast next to the Valley of the Rocks campsite - I have been round the Valley site and it is it the lumps and bumps of the lay of the land if you know what I mean - The outdoor centre is sheilded by this.

If the outdoor centre allows open fires I would imagine that it is quite sheltered otherwise you would have lots of embers being whipped up if it was that windy and I imagine they would not be allowed.

I work at RAF Valley and I live by the coast - today is not very windy - it will appear more windy at home cos I live on a hill.

We've just had a week at Nantcol Waterfalls site in Wales and it was brilliant. There were a few planes and the site does allow campfires.  There is a river for the children to play in (supervised of course) and it has very good facilities.

Sorry to jump in on this, I was wondering what the river was like...... Were just down the road next week at dollgamed and we're concerned about it being raging with all the rain we've had.....

We were there 5th July for 8 nights.  On the Friday, it never stopped raining and it was the weekend where most of the country experienced the flooding but at Nantcol it wasn't too bad.  Lots of campers cancelled because of the rain but the next day, the weather was fine and loads of children were playing in the river.  The water did seem pretty high downstream but we never saw any flooding.

Someone else posted (on another thread, sorry I don't know how to do links) that they were there last week and the river was raging.  It's difficult to say how it will be next week, the British "Summer" being what it is.
