hi we are looking for a good campsite in the lake district for 4 kids in august looking for plenty of hills and scenery to get the kids tired out must have shower blocks and if possible a quiet site but not to fat to walk any links will be great going from friday till sunday cheers
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Eskdale C&CC site. Wonderful walks and views directly from site. 5 minute walk to the Eskdale/Ravenglass Railway. Spotless showers and facilities. Also 3 pubs all selling food and family friendly within 5-10 minutes walk. Lovely site.
We've just had a long weekend in the lakes with our two boys who are 7 & 8.
The sites fantastic if a little soggy at the minute! Showers are very clean and hot. I would have through they'd be busy in August.
We walked from site everyday visiting Blea Tarn, The Roman Fort and the Railway! We also did some fell walking from the bottom of Hardknott pass walking through the valley to Scall Gill waterfall. Last year we walked up to the Stanley Ghyll force waterfall. The boys loved the stepping stones over the river!
We ate in two of the local pubs, the Woolpack (fantastic place and the owner will drive you back to the campsite in his jeep!) and the Brook House Inn (food fantastic and just a stagger home to bed!)

Wray castle and the town of ambleside are within walking distance to. Try get a pitch in new summer field awesome views of the lake and ambleside.
