Hi everybody

First post and fairly new to camping too. Can anyone help please? I have been trying to find a campsite in the New Forest/Hampshire/Dorset area that is to a good standard for tenting. Must be in or close to the New Forest. What we want is a wooded site but with electric hook ups and showers/toilets.

The Forestry commision sites look lovely but they dont seem to have electric or loos or both. The privately owned sites all seem to be just a big field with no character or shelter. Does such a site exist or am I asking too much?

this is a nice site - next to the station and a pub.

Also look at Redshoot -I haven't been there but quite a few people on here have mentioned it favourably

Poppy Thanks for your reply. Site looks nice but they have no electricity! As I said I need an electric hookup and showers/toilets. Not a lot to ask for in this day and age or is it??

Hi - have you looked at Holmsley? It is not tree filled, but has electric and is just a stile away from glorious walks in the forest in just about every direction.

Yes, but some sites may accept tents and have EHU, but have a seperate tent area, so unless you can occupy a 'standard' pitch with EHU, you're still stuck.

Not a lot to ask for in this day and age or is it?? - a rhetorical question perhaps ? I think that in some places like woodland sites, it may not be so practical to install EHU, and maybe most tent campers who use these sites don't look for EHU.
