Ive spent some time trawling through the campsite search but can't seem to find a site that meets our needs.
Maybe Im asking for a little too much...
Needs to allow campfires
Preferably with just basic facilities (water, cdp, bins)
Takes larger sized camper vans, good access roads
Loads of space and seclusion
willing to travel about 80 miles or so.
anyone got any ideas, many thanks
Sharon

I could recommend somewhere too - no problem re campervan size, fires allowed as long as they are in a fire pit, good site access, basic facilities, and all the peace and seclusion you want - but it's just over 100 miles away from you

Sounds like you need to join the C&CC and look at their Hideaway Certificated Sites - we've been to several that are just water, CDP & bins all for under a tenner a night. The issue on rural/hideaway sites is always likely to be access though - it's the nature of the roads that you are using. The ones that we have just on narrow lanes are accessible but you do need a little bit of courage and the ability to smile nicely when making other people reverse - we live on narrow lanes so we're probably quite used to it!
Edited to add you can search C&CC CS's on their website and use the tabs to see the aerial view of the sites and access roads.

hi
thanks Tigermouse, but it is too far,
Piglet and Tiger, already members been so for over 4yrs now, we use THS a lot, and some cs sites
ones we've used don't allow open fires though, and as far as I know theres no way of searching for the facility on the website
skinny lanes don't worry us its more the 'sharp turns' in a 17ft long van.
thanks for all the replays folks, have great day and a fab camp.
Sharon
You can search for sites which allow camp fires - it comes up under 'type of site' on the left of the page once you've selected the area you want to go to

so its 17ft long, just on 6ft wide and 12 ft high..... considerably bigger than a vw camper van
but clearly not a standard motorhome,
its more of a tentless camping set up. weve got some funny looks from people when we say camper van, so we just try to make it clear its a bigger version, lol.
It's Seven Acres near Stroud, it's a CS but nobody will check if you are not a C&CC member. It only has a loo and a washbasin with cold water (and ehu).
