On our second day of camping a couple arrived with their caravan. They parked the caravan, set up their awning and wind breaks and then sat a full size, sitting down plastic gorilla outside their caravan!!!
I couldn't resist and had to go and ask them why - they said that when they last went out in their caravan everyone they spoke to was really friendly but no one actually came over to talk to them - they had to do all the going to. So they decided to get something of a feature and the woman had driven to Wales a couple of weeks before to collect "George" the gorilla.
I meant to get a photo of my two girls stood next to it but completely forgot - although I did get one from a distance that I will try to download.
Has anyone else seen anything quite as bonkers?

Planned 2012 camping (so far)
May - the field at the top of our lane with half the village!
July - Waxham Sands
August - wild camping in a field near Llanthony Priory, Wales

Some folks on a site we were on had two realistic life sized Alsation dogs outside their van.
I think their intention may have been to frighten people away. I know my wife thought they were real and wouldn't walk that way until I told her after about 3 days.

------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
If I had an immitation Gorilla sitting on a chair outside my caravan and anyone asked me why it was there, I would respond with a humourous 'SWIFT' answer such as...."The wife is in the caravan but this is my 'ELDDIS' daughter!"

Funny you should say this i walked across a site a few months ago to the dog walk and froze when i saw a still dog with a look on it's face a didn't like then the panic went as i thought the dog isn't real it's not moving so i carried on and suddenly this dog shot forward and nearly attacked mine with an inch to spare. My dog nearly knocked me over in fright. The owners thought it was funny being as my dog is a Rott and theirs was a small terrier but i didn't i was livid.

And so would I be, I know who's dog would have been blamed if there had been an incident.....just not acceptable and not fair.

Thanks Janx. I think and hope it was a one off and hope to not come across them again. Most people who's dogs do that apologise to me but there's always one.
