I've just decided that the site I was planning to go to to this weekend isn't going to work out. So, I'm searching like crazy for an alternative, within a 2 hour drive of North London.
Our unit is a tent, we don't need EHU and prefer relaxed informal sites. We're a family of 5 with 2 young girls (7&4) and a newborn. The only must-have is some sort of play area / climbing frame type thing, to keep the kids happy.
I've trawled the site search but nothing appealing with availability is jumping out, so I thought I'd post in search of some inspiration.
All suggestions very gratefully received.
Cheers
Barney.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We have recently been to Seven Acres near Stroud in Gloucestershire, loads of space for children to play but no play equipment. Only has a loo and washbasin with cold water though. It's a CS but I very much doubt if you would be asked for proof of C&CC membership. It seems to be popular weekend camp site.
Thanks for the replies. Seven Acres is a non-runner as I really want some play equipment for the kids, Tanner Farm looks awesome though and is going into the virtual brochure.
As it happens, after a begging phone call, my current favourite site The Orchard Campsite has found me a pitch so I'm now sorted for the weekend.
Really appreciate you taking the time to reply though.
All the best

Really pleased you found somewhere...I looked at the link you posted and it looks great.
Tanner Farm is definitely worth looking at with a young family...I think they are a little stricter than where you've booked by the sounds of it...pitches are marked out and I don't think you can have a real fire there. Also they are really strict with the no noise rule at night - but as we have a 7 year old, we really like that!
This year will be our 3rd year running there, so we really do like it.
Happy camping.
