We have found it, on site now. Toilets/showers Spotless, family rooms, spotless, all with loads of hooks and stools. Very large level pitches A mix of caravans and tents all over the site (no special area for caravans near the toilets) EHU Very quite after 10.30 Loads to do very nearby Freeze ice blocks for you freindly staff woods playpark for kids Tree all around pitch area so you can get some shade (as very hot at moment) best of all everyone is so friendly and happy We are at Whitefield Forest IOW. Its the best site i have been too in 3 years of camping.

an adults only section if poss pitches quite far apart & partially screened (only partially as we all need to nosey out) no TVs, radios, etc showers where you can rinse out the cubicle with the hose campfires allowed Wardens on patrol, enforcing noise curfews IN THE MORNING (sorry to shout ) as we don't want to hear your daughter's dance routine or your son's Nintendo at 7.30am thanks very much.

My perfect site wouldn't be an official site at all but just a beautiful spot in the countryside where I could pitch my tent, light a fire and enjoy the views and the isolation. It would be handy if there were toilet/shower facilities somewhere nearby too, although then it would become a site I suppose. Does that sound very antisocial and selfish?

My perfect site is within walking distance of a town or village, and/or river or sea.
Flat pitches with short grass. Clean and tidy site.
Separate clean facilities for men and women, washbasins in cubicles, constant hot water with taps to turn on and off yourself. Washing up under cover with hot water.
EHU
Nothing else required.

My perfect site:
Friendly staff,
no main road nearby,
nice views,
low density of pitchs so everyone can spread out,
EHU for caravans and tents,
shooting (with silencer) of anyone who uses a generator despite EHU available (yes I've seen it happen),
campfires allowed,
dogs allowed,
nice modern heated showers and toilets,
Enforced noise curfew. No noise between 10pm and 9am,
Adults only area,
A barrier to stop a*****les turning up in the middle of the night or going in and out,
small shop on site but no club.

i want one thing on the camp sites, a toilet cassette cleaning service, everything else you can get
camp sites i favour are quiet but busy sites, not a fan of the butlins like camp sites.

I'm with Scarletsfan and Tiggarsmum, it's all about the view and the setting.....mountains and/or sea/river/lake/stream/puddle?!...don't mind what the facilities are like ( within reason!). Preferably not too big a site and natural looking to blend in with it's surroundings if that makes sense.
One thing I love are car free sites.....gives a totally different feel to a site.
.....and Tiggarsmum, I know where you're referring to....it's perfect but oh so far from me!!!

I like the sound of a car free site, although I would like the ability to drive in and drop off stuff before leaving the car outside the campsite.
I'd say a warden onsite is pretty important to me, but that's only because of bad experiences and in my 'fantasy campsite' there would only be mindful, cheerful campers, not the idiots I've been meeting on occasion.
I'd like space between pitches, preferably like many french campsites where you have low hedges between pitches. I'd like to rent the pitch, the whole pitch - and for it not to matter if I put one big tent or a couple of small dome tents and a tarp. I'd like the price to be for the whole pitch, not for individual people and/or dogs or utility tents.
I'd like a regularly cleaned shower block and loos and I particularly like the sites (many in Ireland) where they have communal campers kitchens and sometimes sitting rooms. Mannix Point in the South of Ireland has a turf fire in their sitting room, musical instruments hanging on the wall, and more often than not a spontaneous music session just breaks out, everyone taking a turn if they feel like it. In fact Mannix Point would probably encompass everything that's perfect about a site, you can tell it's run by and experienced camper. Pity it's so far from me!
