Hi there, wanted to ask some advice around seasonal pitches. We are on the hunt for one for next year ideally within a few hours drive of Bristol. The price of many of them is putting me off - ie £1800 or more. There is a possibility of one in Mid Wales for less than £1000 but not quite so keen on the area as others. Anyway looking at CCC website and see they do seasonal pitches. Does anyone have any experience of these? What are pros and cons? When do you apply? We are interested in California Cross site near Ivybridge in Devon. Does any have any idea of the chances of getting a place on your preferred site for next year. Any thoughts much appreciated. Also if anyone knows of any seasonal pitches in south west around £1000 mark or less!!! (I know I can dream!) can they let me know. Many thanks

Is it any good trying a small 5c or such like from the big sites book as they may allow it as at least they have income through the season. You can always ask, no harm in it. Is there any down where California Cross is as all i know is that it slopes and the area is hilly. But interesting driving if your not towingas its a bit narrow and you can find yourself reversing with your unit as a bus is coming towards you. One woman on that campsite reversed 3 mile back. Not bad when I cannot reverse even 20 yds.
A CCC seasonal info sheet goes out usually in the September or October magazine.
There does seem to be quite a few rules they you have to follow. For me the one that stands out is that you can't keep your awning up when you're not there.
The sites won't have any info themselves yet about seasonal pitches but if you give your chosen site a call once the seasonal pitches leaflet is out for next year they should be able to help.

You cannot legally have a seasonal pitch on a CL\CS, I think the maximum stay is 28 days and vans must not be left unattended overnight, If allowed I think a lot of people would be interested in this option.
The fee for a Seasonal Pitch at California Cross in 2012 was £1,015. I doubt if it will be any less in 2013. This gives you a pitch between the end of March and late September. The fee can be paid in two instalments. I hope this helps!
