am new to camping and looking at new places to go having got the bug. I am wondering what is a reasonable price to pay per night for let's say two in a medium size tent on a site with loos/showers/washing up area? I know there will be some premium locations where the prices are higher but some idea of the avg would be very useful.

One person's "reasonable" will be anothers "unreasonable"!
I personally set my own limits depending on how many of us are coming away: 2 adults and 2 children - maximum £35 1 adult and 2 children - maximum £25 1 adult and 1 child - maximum £20 1 adult - maximum £15
So far I have found plenty of lovely sites that fit within my budget with EHU.
We charge £12.50 for an electric pitch for 2 people, for that you also get free showers, and hot water for washing up. We don't hike our prices in holiday time either. The more facilities, and the more tourist locations tend to be higher priced. It all depends what you are looking for in a site
------------- Visit Llandrindod Wells! Great scenery, walks, cycling, red kites. Ideal for exploring Mid Wales.

We've just booked a week at Tattershall Lakes, near Lincoln for a week. The normal price for one night over a weekend is £22 approx. We've paid £69 for the week for a hard-standing, EHU and water. Just hook-up is £49.
It's well worth a visit at those prices.
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
Unless it's an all singing site i think £15 is the top limit i would pay and happy to pay for a shower on top if they did charge.I feel some sites take the biscuit asking £25 for just a grass pitch with no EHU,it escapes me of the name of one i was just looking at but it was what they were asking for a low season tariff per night.

I'm tight! I love camping but not all singing and all dancing sites. A field, cold water tap and toilet are what I can't live without and wouldn't pay anymore than £25 a night for the 5 of us.....
We find a lot of the time it all depends on location especially here in the South with campsites in Devon/Cornwall/Dorset being the most expensive especially if you want to be within walking distance of the beach. Sometimes its better to pay a bit more for a really good campsite you like than to save a bit of money and end up on a one.
It may well be worth looking at some Camping & Caravan Club sites on their website

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
