Hi there
My fiancé and I are planning to get married next July/ august and are trying to keep costs down.
We love camping and festivals so looking for a friendly campsite for space of 50 or so tents. 120 guests. Would love a marquee but it doesnt look as though we would be able to afford one : ( we would want to be able to provide bbq/hogroast. looking at areas in the south. Hampshire, Dorset, Somerset, isle of Wight, Cornwall or Devon.
Any help in our search would be great.

Do a search on this forum, because i have a feeling there was a park advertising the fact that they were licensed to hold weddings on the park. Cannt remember exactly where they were though.
Just a thought, how about speaking to a farmer in the location of your choice, the field next to our house was a wedding venue a couple of weeks ago, they put a big marquee up and portable loos and had the rest of the field cordoned off for parking, you could try the events company, they do all the decor etc. we just got wed 2 weeeks ago and costs were 6k, had church, hotel reception but did everything else ourselves to save costs, j x
We're getting married next year and hiring a field from a local farmer and anyone who wants to can camp for £10 a night, regardless of what they are camping in!! Granted there is no EHU, but for £10 you can't complain.
We were going to camp ourselves, but even tho we have a Maritsa 700, I didn't think getting changed out of a wedding dress would be the best idea!
Definitely see if there are any fields in your area to hire as it could work out a lot cheaper for you. Our whole wedding is costing around £6-7k as we're doing a lot of stuff ourselves, but that still includes the marquee and food.

i would suggest finding a field too...would be much cheaper all round.
there is a company near here that does luxury portalooos and showers, so you can still have all mod cons, and these in my opinion are of a better standard than many site facilities!
My son got married last July and had the reception at Stowford Meadows camp-site in North Devon,
It was absolutely brilliant, many of the family camped on the site and stayed for a week afterwards,
we finished off with a hog roast.

Home Farm just outside Burnham-on-Sea USED to have a licence to actually conduct weddings - I don't know if they still have. This is a huge site (not actually my cup-of-tea) with 850 pitches, but it is flat, 5 mins off J22 of the M5 and has everything on-site.
As has already been stated, your timing may be a bit of a problem.

***EDIT - Cancel that - Just noticed they do not accept tents, only 'vans - sorry.
Try contacting these people http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/reviews.asp?revid=12484 - they have a campsite where you can pitch your own tents but have some Yurts too. The farm has a big Tythe barn where they have live music/dancing at their annual chilli festival so may consider letting you have that for reception do.
Plenty of holiday cottages around the area (see Upton Cheyney or North Stoke) for those who may not want to camp. The farm shop is great and the meat is lovely so I'm sure they could provide a pig for a hog roast. Have a great wedding wherever you end up having it.
