We used to go via the A50 to Uttoxeter, then Stone, Nantwich Whitchurch, Audlem, Rhuabon and onto the A5, taking the Bala road over to Criccieth and Portmadoc (Sp?)
It can be a bit tricky taking the coastal road beyond Bangor, quite a few roadworks in the area when we were last down in the begining of last month.
Not recommended to take a caravan through Conwy town centre if you were thinking of using it as a stop off from the coastal road (A55) due to the narrow arches of the towns walls and small carparks. its a few years since we were down at the Haven park, but I do recollect a couple of toll roads in the area, so a bit of loose change at the ready would be useful.

as a Gog (Person from N Wales ) who lives in London. A50 to stoke A500 to M6 , M6 to M56, then either 1) M56 onto A494/A55 2) M53 onto A55 both have hills Aston Hill past Queensferry on option 1 or Warren from broughton up to Buckley turn off on option 2. the A55 has a few hills but a good chance to keep revs and torque the Northop bypass and Rhuallt hill are the 2 biggies Rhuallt being the big big one, but thats down hill going West. once past Bangor pick up the A487 towards Caernarfon and follow signs for Porthmadog. after that there is only one route the A5 is a winding road with little scope for passing and you really don't want to annoy those behind. Conwy is missed by using the tunnel and has been bypassed for 21 years !!!!!!!!!
