We are now in York after spending 3 nights in the Peak District. I'm finding the X Trail to be a superb vehicle all round.

Hey looks great, glad you are enjoying it. I love mine, yep it is old on a 52 plate but it is great to drive. I changed my manual one for an auto back in September due to knee surgery.

May I say.....
As a newcomer to camping (of the non-tin variety), I have little interest in caravans, and much less in whatever is used to drag them about. Indeed, the first time I spotted "Click on My Homepage for Blog", it was not a difficult decision to think "Thanks, but no thanks"!... and head off back to "Camping under canvas".
However, sat here, as I was, this morning, waiting for "herself" to finish her much earned lie-in, and having already decided that today will be a "not bothering to get dressed day"!, I decided to while away a half hour or so, reading about the exploits of a complete stranger (Yawn!!), whilst hugging my third mug of steaming hot black coffee (I prefer it without cream, but as we didn't have any, I had it without milk, instead"!!).
And you'll never guess what? (Actually, I strongly suspect you know what's coming next!  )
I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THAT!!! 
Well written. (at least it seemed that way, to someone who devours literature about as much as an anorexic in a kebab shop!). Lovely pics and descriptions. (I guess the fact that most of the visited areas are a little familiar to me, helped, tbh.)
And all served with a beautifully apportioned helping of (very) dry humour!
Excellent read!
And I understood every word..... despite the accent!! LOL!
(Actually, that's not strictly true, as I have no idea what "JFO mode" refers to, so would appreciate enlightening on that score).
Scarlets fan, I have to point out that I'm under the impression that the locals wince somewhat, when referring to their local delicacy as a tart, rather than a pudding, and that I am also a little concerned about the amount of "adult beverages" yourself and Mrs Scarlet partake in, seemingly every evening(!!), but other than that, I am so pleased that I decided to "waste" half an hour on your very informative, very witty, and above all, extremely entertaining blog.
Why, this has even made me consider that "tin-tenters" may well be "alright, after all"!!
I may even speak to one now, when next passing, on the way to the shower block (We don't have our own shower, obviously...... frozen or otherwise!!  )

Wow, convinced then! I stumbled across a 2002 auto whilst looking for a Note auto so sold my XTrail manual instead of the Almera lol. 60,000 on the clock.

I'm another who originates from near Bakewell and am throwing my vote firmly behind the Pudding :-)
If you want any help finding one, I have a friend who sources cars from aucton for dealers, from experience I can recommend him...
