As we camp as a group in connection with our hobby, we don't always have a choice of sites although we'll always look for smaller more peaceful sites with wardens on site. Only two units require EHU so has to have a mix of electric/non-electric pitches. Other than that, clean toilets and decent showers (not fixed head nor push button) needed.
Desirable to have a washing-up area, dog walk or somewhere to do so close by.
Avoid large regimented sites with on site entertainment.
We've tended to use C&CC sites (most of us are members) as they can be very accommodating and Speyside actually let us camp where we aren't shut in by the gate - that's because we have an early start every time we stay there!
Now, I'm going to cause some upset here, but I have some heavy duty reusable cable ties in the camping shower bags, in case we encounter these push button showers, just holds the button in place to have a decent shower, then remove and reuse!

Ficklejade, I don't really like fixed head type showers either. Especially being really small, or trying to shower small children under them. But you can't usually find that out before you arrive can you?
No sadly you can't! I'm not particularly small, but I have long hair and haven't found a shower cap yet that it all stays under!! Consequently always end up with some wet hair with these things and having to queue and pay for a hairdryer!

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
