It seems as though the site costs across the UK are creeping up and in some cases rather more than they should with excessive electric charges and the like.
  • What are the ranges in your area ?

  • Are the site fees what you consider to be competitive in your area?

  • How do the costs abroad compare ?

Although some areas will be higher than others i feel that it mainly goes on facilities provided that dictates the costs and not the area.

When comparing UK sites to sites abroad you would also need to take into account the travelling costs and time.

Leicestershire......never paid more than £20 per night (family of 5, non EHU).....Derbyshire was a little more at £25 per night (same people, non EHU).

The sites we like to use are not very big and not all singing but each have a little something that draws us back!

We have just come across a site near to us that will work out at about £20 per night with EHU.....can't wait to try this one off-peak!

Don't know about prices abroad as there is so much to see in this country it will take me til I'm 70 to visit the sites in my virtual brochure!

Haven't camped in UK for a few years, but where we've been many years would work out £22 with EHU for 4 adults on last years prices.

Recently we've been over to France....their high season for LeTour. Two years ago we went to Bourg d'Oisans and will be returning in July. The site we used (all singing/Eurocamp on) have walloped a 10% surcharge on for major events and 13 nighs comes in at an eye watering E831.16 for 13 nights/4adults/EHU. We are heading to a smaller not all singing (which suits us more) costing E500.50 for same period; just need to add local tourist tax on to that. (and no booking fee!) Guess you get what you pay for and if you don't like it go elsewhere.......

All our favourite North Norfolk sites have put prices up by about £1 a night. Can't really complain at that. When they get too expensive we will find somewhere else !!!

I can't really see the relevance without a full breakdown on what you get for your money. Don't really know about prices around here anyway. When we have stayed on a site it has always been away from our home area.

Prices vary so much even in the same area, dependent on time of stay (school holidays), number of people, proximity to local attractions, beaches, things to do for children, on site facilities, electric (which we have never been over charged for) etc etc etc.

We (2 adults + 2 Children) stay in Dorset at least twice a year, and can either stay on a small clean campsite with electric, nothing to do, especially for the kids, no shops nearby so have to drive everywhere, nearest beach is 30 mile round trip by car plus £6 parking if you can find a space but its only £20 a night in August and if you just want a base to explore the surrounding area its fine.
OR
We can stay on another small site with electric, shop, bar, restaurant, take away, indoor pool, 10 minutes walk to the beach, 15 minutes walk to town, walks over the Purbeck hills (so no driving or parking fees) lots to do for us and the kids even when its raining, and that works out at £35 per night for what I would call a seaside holiday.

You pays your money and takes your choice

Experience enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.
Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again

I live in beautiful North Yorkshire and can pay anything from £8 per night with EHU up to £35 per night with EHU for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.
