I would choose Milarrochy Bay partly because it is where we were assistants in 1990 and Luss can be a little noisy from the main road. If you do decide on Milarrochy Bay take care when reaching Balmaha as there is a sharp turn to the right in the road up quite a steep hill. The scenery is stunning. We are hoping to go in August.
We had a week at Milarrochy Bay last summer, beautiful spot. Would definitely recommend but as previously said beware of the sharp right turn in Balamaha.

Luss - very convenient for main road access and therefore getting out and about to places from, and you can walk into local village, but can get waterlogged in places. Good for a short stay on the way to somewhere else. If you want to visit Glasgow it's and easy drive down to Balloch to get the train.
Milarrochy Bay - much quiter and possibly more attractive site, but more remote. Allow 20 min to half an hour to get out to the "rest of the world" depending on where you wanted to go for the day. The better site for a longer stay (but not if you want to sightsee to the west of Loch Lommond)
I agree with even stephen. We have stayed at both & enjoyed each of them for different reasons. Depends on whether u want to be able to walk unto Luss etc.

Looking to book a trip in our caravan and interested in either Luss or Milarrochy Bay. Any recommendations please??
Hi Lyndsey
We returned to Milarrochy Bay with our caravan last Easter for 2 weeks and had pitch right on the Loch with incredible views. We had last visited on our first outing as a family new to camping in our frame tent in 1994.
MB is much quieter than Luss as it is on the single track road along the eastern side of the Loch which ends a few miles past the site. It does, however, mean quite a long drive to reach the main roads when going out to visit anywhere else.
Luss on the other hand is just off the main A84 so much better for going out on visits but suffers from some road noise.
We've stayed at both sites over the years. However, if I were returning I my recommendation would be the Cashel site a little further along the same road as Milarrochy Bay. It is a former Forestry Commission site and now, like MB, managed by the CCC. We visited Cashel on our 2012 visit to MB and asked the wardens if we could look around. They were very friendly and welcoming. We thought it a better site to MB as it is more open and has even better views northwards along the Loch. It, also, has the added advantage of a well stocked shop which is useful as it is a bit further from the nearest town than MB.
If you want to read more of our visit to MB and see some of my pics have a look at my Loch Lomond journal. Google "Tim Irwin caravan" to find it. Don't be put off by my photo - I blame that on Cary - she took it!!!
