Think I've said on another thread, we've been over to France the last few years for a holiday and TDF. I've never paid over the odds on a site there and will not in this country. Looks as if my pennies will become Euros and head over to France again!

I'm posting this on here, as well as on the Camping Abroad section, to notify people that Broughton Hall near Skipton (where I work) is to host an event over the Tour de France weekend which has space for 15,000 campers (not sure whether that's just tents or campers/caravans too). I've just had details in the Broughton Hall Christmas newsletter, and these are copied from the article:
Plans are underway for next year’s Tour de France extravaganza to be held at Broughton, aptly named “The Rapha Tempest Festival of Cycling” which will see the Estate host 15,000 campers looking to celebrate the Grande Depart in Yorkshire. If you fancy coming along then please call Mike at the Estate Office on 01756 799608.

Really quite shocked by prices for the pop up farm campsites or is it worth it for the chance of a lifetime??
Does anyone have any info about rules/regs of campervans or motorhomes just parking up at the side of the road in true French style?

The tour will go right past the front gate of the cc site at Hebden Bridge. Having just looked there is space there. Another site local to the tour on the 6th July is Hollingworth Lake in Littleborough.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

Ther's some good info on this site and you can fiddle round on there to look for eating places.
I've just found this on the local newspaper site (Examiner)
Hope it helps, but some are lining their pockets - BIG style.

Another update. Kirklees have announced a race round Huddersfield on the evening Friday 4th July here. It might be worth a visit.
