If it has to be on the loch directly the Luss site is nice, but as its near the water the midges can be ferocious. Cashel Camping is a nice site as well, i find most the Forrest run sites to be nice.
I agree with Scamp and Vangoman about the Luss site - we stayed there in June 2012 just for one night on our way up to Fort William.
Very nice site and situation.
It was raining and so quite soggy underfoot and the midges were unbelievably dreadful.
I remember thinking that I would never have wanted my young grandchildren to have to manage with the midges - but I had been warned that they are a real problem at that time of year in that area - so serves me right for going!!
I'll be interested in any replies and suggestions on this thread as I'm also looking for a site in the same area. I've just checked out the website for Cashel and I'm afraid there's not a hope in hell that I'll ever go there with those prices!

Happy camping
Such a coincidence! Woke up this morning and managed to persuade OH that May half term would be a good time for a trip to Scotland. We decided on Loch Lomand area as being the furthest we could travel, I then found the Cashel site which I thought looked great (not checked the prices yet though!). Just before that I had been ogling the 'Best view' thread and drooling over your picture.
Fate indeed Claire. It's well worth the journey, you won't regret it.
And on the subject of price, there's no great need to pay a premium for the front row pitches as there are great views from all over the site. Do that should bring the price down a wee bit 😉
Happy camping.
So how do you know which are front row pitches, unless of course you ring and ask? There's nothing on the website to give any indication - according to that there are basic grass pitches and 'premium' pitches with ehu and/or hard standing, but it doesn't say where they are situated. For when I want to go a pitch with ehu is £26.70, and even with a single camper discount it's still nearly £25 so I'm afraid it's definitely out of my budget. I'd want a gold-plated fence round my pitch for that amount! lol
