I have stayed at this site before and we are planning to return there for a 3 night break in April.

Just wondering if anyone has ever pitched a tent on the hardstandings at this site?
Never had a hardstanding pitch option come up before when booking a tent pitch online but it is showing me that option this time?!

I quite like the idea of a hardstanding pitch as last time we stayed there, it rained solidly for 4 days and the tent was very wet and muddy when we packed up.

I have tried contacting the site to ask if tents can use the hardstanding (never seen a tent on one when we have stayed there before) but have not received a reply.

Can anyone help?
I don't want to book and then arrive to be told tents can't use the hardstandings!

Not sure if you can book for a tent , but we used a hard pitch for our trailer tent , but had to put an extra groundsheet down as the stones were cutting through the built in sheet where chairs and tables were placed .

Not sure about pitching a tent on a hard standing pitch. We pitched a trailer tent on one once and found it a pain underfoot in the living area. Im not sure Id want an air bed on it as a surface. You might have an issue with using standard tent pegs on a hard standing as well.

The rough ground underfoot was one of the things that concerned me as I know the hard standing pitches at Barney are quite rough gravel rather than the nice, round pea gravel and it may damage the SIG even with an extra tarp under the footprint groundsheet.
Don't use airbeds and I have a good selection of rock pegs so shouldn't experience too many problems there.

As I said originally, I have never had hard standing come up as an option when booking a tent.

Will keep trying to get in touch with the site to ask their advice before committing to book.
Alternatively, I might book a hard standing pitch and just take the Toyota and awning!

You won't get an answer ringing the site direct as they don't open until 21st March. Why not ring the central reservations number and ask them?
