We are in the C and C club , but have never found a site that doesn't accept non - members , to the extent that we are beginning to think 'what's the point in paying £40 to be a member !" !!

I have never found it to be as much as that ! ? Though in fairness we joined because we wanted to stay in the small CS sites ,but have found that you can stay if you are non members at such sites and the price isn't much difference. May well be different at the 'proper' sites.

The non-members' pitch fee is £7.20 per night on the main sites, this is in addition to the usual per adult/child and pitch fees per night. So after using mains sites for 6 nights you are better off being a member
As for CSs: you should be a member of the C&CC to use them, and should be asked for your membership number when booking and your card on arrival. Although in practice I don't think many owners bother asking, which is a bit unfair on members, if non-members can use them as well!

Taken from Q&A Section from website (Members Caravan Club):
Can I join with a trailer tent or tent?
We welcome tourer caravanners, motorhomers and trailer tenters - whether you own, hire, borrow or are simply considering purchase. If you are a tent camper, you'll be welcome to stay at around 60 of our Club Sites. However, tent campers are not eligible to join The Caravan Club, as our membership benefits are geared towards caravanners.
So you can stay at selected sites but are not eligible for membership if you have a tent only.

Simple. You don't tell them you are a tenter and you can join. However if you sue the one of the sites you don't get any discount because you are in a tent.
After an experience on a site where tent guy ropes where nearly under our caravan I am pleased that the CC restricts tenters to their own area.

I am a tenter and I am a member of the Caravan Club - basically our favourite site was taken over by the Caravan Club a few years ago but still accepted tents - although no EHU and toilet blocks were a bit of a walk away. If I wanted to stay I would of had to pay over £70 extra for the 12 nights. CC membership was £40. The membership form does ask for unit details but as someone on here has already suggested - lie. However The Caravan Club is for carvanners so not all sites accept tents.
