Hi i am looking for a lovely camp site that is suitable for children, lots of lovely walks and places of interest etc. I live in Hull and as this is going to be a long weekend trip i dont want to travel to far. Can anybody recommend any great sites at great prices please.
Thanks in advance x
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I don't know if you are in a caravan or not but the caravan club site at West Ayton near Scarborough is great for walking and is not too far from the beach, there are loads of other sites in this area, York is always great for a weekend trip and not too far from Hull.
Have a look around the Dalby Forest, Thornton le Dale area. Takes around an hour to get there from Hull. There are loads of good campsites in the area. One of my favorites is Low Farm, Ellerburn
Try Burton Constable.....I know REALLY not far but brill for just getting away lots for the kids to look at on the site! Love Hutton Le Hole Campsite on a working farm and you can walk in to the village and go to the Rydale folk museum (kids activities are great) an about an hour from Hull!
We are CC members and often use the club site in Rosedale Abbey( sorry no tents allowed), but there's another site in the village Rosedale Caravan & Camping site.
The village is small and centrally located in the North Yorkshire moors national park so it's possible to use it as a base for seeing the many attractions of this area, there are plenty of walks directly from the village too and the Moorsbus runs most weekends and bank holidays, there's also 2 pubs that do great meals, a village store and 2 tearooms and the fish & chip van visits each Friday.
It takes us just over an hour to travel to Rosedale Abbey towing a caravan depending on the congestion in Pickering.
We are from hull and went to burton constable last weekend in our tent and its a lovely site, we also nip to Skipsea sands quite a lot which the kids love, cheesy entertainment, swimming pool etc and half an hour or so away
We are the other side of the Humber and are heading to High Grundon Farm in Thornton le dale today, not far from you and as Lurcher Mac says there is lots to do Whitby,Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay,Dalby Forest,Goathland(Heartbeat)
