Hi

I tend to camp.on my own in my campervan or with friends separately in their tents so struggle to find a campsite that is a per person.price rather than £20+ per night per unit which for a weekend away for site plus petrol is at least £100 so bit excessive for a 'cheap getaway'. Does anyone know of any sites in South East, South West, Anglia, Wales and Midlands that are per person???

All Camping and Caravanning Club sites are per person unless you also want EHU or hardstanding, but you and your friends would need to join or else you would also have to pay a non-member pitch fee (currently £7.20 per night) in addition, which would defeat the object.

I was a member of ccc last year but only used two sites and yes you are restricted if not everyone is a member...some of my friends are once a year campers!!! Trying to find a non ccc. Been to deepdale farm in Norfolk which I love but trying to find others

If you don't mind cheap and cheerful and just two steps up from basic then Golden Sunset camping fields at Benllech on Anglesey is only £7 per person per night. There's a limited number of ehu points (can't be booked so first-come-first-served) but there's no extra charge if you use one. I camp there often, and while I wouldn't recommend it during the long school holidays as it can get a bit manic it's great for earlier in the year.

Here at Rother Valley, East Sussex we have a pitch fee plus per person charge.

At the moment a midweek (Mon - Thur) non EHU pitch with one person would be £8 per night (until end June).

As already mentioned, C&CC charges per person on top of pitch fee, hence one of the reasons why I joined.

Birchwood Tourist Park near Wareham, Dorset, charges per person on top of pitch fee too.

Fforest Fields in Wales gives discount for single person camping in a tent.

We offer a single person pitch fee all year (with EHU or without EHU prices) except for the 6 weeks summer holidays. Prices vary according to the season / what facilities we have open at the time. Please see our tariff.

What about the small CL/Cs sites, we only charge £10 for 2 people, and do a special cyclist special of £7/night. I'm sure if you search the area your interested in you'll find other small sites

The C&CC system was one of the reasons I joined.

I can understand Budemeadows' point - it makes sense. And I could definitely live with those prices (I don't do July/August!!) - unfortunately you're rather a long way away.

My beef is really more with pay £18 plus per night for a pitch for two people, non EHU at a quieter time when the peak cost is only £2 more and not a hint of a discount. I'm not a backpacker and wouldn't expect backpacker rates but a percentage discount for a singleton when the basic pitch price is for two adults would result in folks walking away and complaining.

Mind you, the C&CC made me mad; because it was only me and my son (then 11)as he was charged an adult rate unless he joined in his own right which wasn't worth it as we'd no idea how much camping we'd be able to do with the home situation. It was really irksome to pay the same price for him and me as the family of five on the next door pitch.

I agree with you, but me "family of 5" like all in prices as it can rocket with 3 children, only glad we don't have a dog as well! As has been said, all sites are different, and charge differently you just have to find the ones that suit your prices and needs

That's all very well in principle but often very different in practise. If a solo camper wants to go to a particular area and there are no sites in that area which charge per person then that camper has no choice but to pay the higher price. This happens to me all the time, of all the sites I've stayed at as a solo camper (excluding C & CC sites) only one charges per person and one gives a discount of £1 per night for single occupancy of a pitch.

I agree, Tigermouse, that's similar to my experience, too - other than C&CC. If you want to go to a specific area and no sites give a singleton discount, you either pay up or don't go because you can't afford it. The local economy loses out either way as if you pay up, you have less to spend locally and nothing is paid into the local economy if you don't go at all.

I don't understand what you are saying? On C & C C sites children count as children until they are 18 - unlike some commercial sites who charge as an adult from age 14 or 16. It also used to be free for children in low and mid seasons - don't know if this is still the case or not as mine have grown up now - which meant I could have a very cheap holiday because it was just me and them.

C & CC sites also have a family member rate which means as long as the children belong to you, it is only one price this works out alot better for us (family of 6) which is why we joined, plus the rallies/THS (we did our first one last weekend) charge around £6-£8 per unit per night....very cheap and great fun!
