Hello, im new to the site so please be gentle...... I would like some advice or recomendations on a campsite about an hour, hour and half drive from Wigan as can only set off after work. Could do north wales, south lakes..... first time of camping with the kids aged 2 and 4 and would really like somewhere quirky maybe with a stream to splash in or on a farm... any ideas xxxxxx

Hello there fellow Wiganer,
Baystone Bank Farm Campsite, Millom, South Lakes may be of interest to you as it is only a short drive away, it is on a working farm and has a small stream running through it. No EHU available though. I have not been to this site yet but it is on my to do list, as a quick getaway site not too far from home

Red Bank Farm, Bolton le Sands. Working farm on the shore of Morecambe Bay. Pets corner, or you can watch the cows milking etc. Lanes to walk on, or go on the shore, there may be 'puddles' for digging in. Morecambe not too far away for a sandy beach. And do go to Happy Mount Park, which is just as you go into Morecambe on the coast road. There's a little train at the weekends, and a small kiddies playground £1 each child, adults free. Plus a big open playground at the back of the park for running around, swings etc. Limited free parking at the back or opposite on the prom, so a cheap day out.

Fron Farm near Mold, not too far for you. Fab site, kids love it. There are reviews on here somewhere, maybe someone can do the link?

I also suggest Fron Farm in Mold, excellent, lamb feeding, horse riding for maybe £1 for kids, and they get a free rosette, also do a walk to the local pub through the woods, and the owner tows all the kids around on a mat behind his tractor, and gives donations to Alder Hey Childrens Hospital, its definately a superb site.
