Hi
I am visiting family in Oswestry on Sunday, and as Monday is set to be hot hot hot , thought I would push on and stay a night in north Wales Barmouth being nearest.
Anyone suggest a nice campsite, got the kids and dog .
I here Harlech is nice? Which sea side town would you recommend and which beach.
I remember a thread with a well known site called something like caern something. It was on the beach below snowdon?
Cheers
John

Snowdon is approx. 10 miles from any beach... The nearest costal town would be Caernarfon.. If that's what you were thinking about?
Caernarfon itself doesn't have a beach, but there are plenty not far away. Dinas dinlle is a good beach with a couple of campsites. Porthmadog and Pwllheli areas have gorgeous beaches.
I'd have a look at the campsite search on here for those areas and see if any take you fancy, or indeed are available...

there's a Cae Du campsite right down on the coast next to a small beach (not to be confused with the Cae Du campsite near Beddgelert - which IS near Snowdon)...is that the one you're thinking of...?

Hendre mynack is a nice site but i would say about 45 mins to Barmouth town.We stay here Dyffryn but i think you may have to call and book now. cae duis a bit more wild but right on the beach.
There are lots of nice sites in this area Dyffryn has the best bit of beach though.

Hi that's the one , when I said below Snowdon i was speaking relatively
Oswestry is actually closer to the north coast of Wales than Barmouth which is on the west coast. Do a site search on here they have never steered me wrong

As pointed out by Battie, Barmouth is a few hours from Oswestry.
It's fairly busy already in Barmouth (least with people walking around. Don't know how busy sites are.)
As already mentioned Hendre Mynach is a popular site.
Never stayed there, as I live here in Barmouth and it's just up the road :).
It is about a 20 minute walk into the main town along the sea front. It is a case of crossing the train line, and a road to get to the beach, and you have a popular beer garden (if the weather is on good) a short walk away at the Min Y Mor Hotel.
Shell Island is another popular area locally. That is further up the coast slightly.
If wanting somewhere closer to Oswestry. Abergele is a nice area, and has a beach. Manorafon seems to be a recommended site. Again not stayed there myself, but seems to get good reviews on here.
I have stayed at Ty Mawr the Park Resorts site in the same area though. And that was OK if they are your cup of tea.
