We've a large tent and two kids and are looking for somewhere to pitch up for a fortnight. So many people have told us how beautiful the New Forest is but my initial investigations are only finding expensive holiday parks. Does anyone have any hidden gems they'd be willing to share please? We'd love somewhere with a decent shower block, a play area would be a huge bonus but not essential.
Please help!!!! Thank you!
------------- Very green at camping but full of enthusiasm!!!! :OP
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
One of my favourite sites in the New Forest is Long Meadow Campsite near Brockenhurst. It is part of the New Forest Showground but completely seperate.Great location for exploring the Forest but snag is £24-50 a night peak season but only £17-00 per night off peak.
Unfortunately its a very popular area and with it comes a price tag especially if you are looking at the school holiday period. Hopefully someone will come up with something.

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
Hi this site isn't right in the forest but not too far away, I am sure it's in your budget the owner is friendly and they hire fire pits. The toilet blocks are fairly new and are clean no play park though about a 10 min drive from a lovely country park called moors valley.
A few miles in the other direction, in Southampton, is brand the new campsite at Fairthorne Manor. It's £22 a night in the school holidays and has a toilets, showers etc. No EHU though. We've not stayed there, but have seen the site and it looks lovely.
There's 33% off the Camping in the Forest campsites if you book before 31 May. Various T&Cs but they should be on the website. Not sure of that brings the price below £20 night though.
***If you book before 31st May, you can take 33% off your break at ANY TIME THIS YEAR, excluding Bank Holidays! Terms and conditions apply, click here for full details.
Whether you are looking for a Spring break, Summer relaxation or an Autumn getaway, don't hesitate, book now using code CITF3304 to get your 33% off!***
Thank you for posting the offer chicaguapa, I'd discounted the Camping in the Forest sites as being a bit pricey but this makes them a very reasonable £13 per night off season and we'll be booking a weekend soon!
There is a caravan club site in Salisbury, not sure if they allow tents
Salisbury is at the top end of the new forest. The site is on Hudsons field, which is a big public park, and right next to old Sarum Castle. There is a cycle track into the centre of Salisbury 3/4 of a mile away
Even though I live in Salisbury, I have not visited the site before, so cannot comment about facilities and prices
Important: When posting details of a camp site, please ensure you link to their UKCampsite.co.uk listing, not direct to their website, to enable reviews etc to be read and left!
