I am looking for some help with a campsite near Bath- After much thought have decided to return(again!) to Wooda this year as we love it there but to add a little interest want to stop for 3-4 nights near(ish) Bath first. It will be me, my husband, and three children aged 17, 14 and 10.I want to go to Bath for the day and possibly also Cheddar, Wells, Longleat? Not all of them!So far I have looked at Greenacres- but concerned that it is more for younger children? And also C and C sites at Devizes and Cheddar.Any other ideas or view on these sites- I have read reviews. I would like electric hook up, also preferably a small shop, playground not important as they are too old now!We won't need much entertainment as we plan on going out a lot, but also don't want too small a campsite either, we are not a massively loud family but with two and a half teenagers in tow not always the quietest either.We will be taking our tent rather than trailer tent.

Is Bath itself an option, there are 2 campsites 1 is the marina and the other newton mill.. Silly thing is i live in bath and have no other info on these 2 sites.. maybe as its so close we havent visited..

Newton mill the better site of the two in my opinion.
Plenty of camping pitches with electric hook up and good toilet facilities.
Site shop and bar/restaurant on site.
Close to Bristol/Bath cyclepath which gives you an excellent riverside walk into Bath centre. Bus route reached by a gateway out of top of site.

I can confirm, Newton Mill is good site. In a lovely place but still close to the centre of Bath. There is no need to drive into Bath as it's on a bus route. Or you can use an old rail track to cycle in.

To walk into Bath, leave Newton Mill by the gate at the bottom of site, walk across the sports field to the A4 Road.
Cross this turn right and after 200yards or so you will see a path on your left sign posted Bristol/Bath cyclepath that takes you across a bridge over the Avon. Turn right and follow this cyclepath all the way into the centre. Takes about 45-50 minutes.

We have stayed at both . Newton Mill is greener, prettier site of the two in Bath. It has a bar and good shop . However it is quite a walk in to Bath . We have also stayed at the Marina, this is nearly all hard standings and there are a lot of huge RV's and motorhomes there . But it is right by the tow path and an easier, shorter walk into Bath. Also, the park and ride is just outside the campsite so you its very easy to bus it, the nearest bus stop to Newton Mill is a 10 min walk away . Quite different sites so it all depends on your taste in camping sites!
Greenacres is set in lovely surroundings , never feels crowded and near to Glastonbury etc . There are lots of young children , its ideal for them. Not sure about older ones ?!
