Hi - (planning for next year!) looking for some recommendations for a nice family campsite on the Jurassic coast (or nearby). We normally camp in the New Forest and tend to like a more traditional campsite but this time we'll need some more children friendly activities as our little one will be 4 years old then...
Requirements:
On / near the coast
Electric hook up
Nice flat / large pitches!
Suitable for young children (4 years old) - maybe a pool / park etc etc
Nearby Pub or bar on site
Good views and fairly quiet!
Central location for local activities..
So far I've had a look at West Fleet, East Fleet and Freshwater Beach. All seem to have good reviews although I'm a little concerned that Freshwater is a bit too much like a holiday park rather than traditional camping!
Are there any other alternatives around that area - any recommendations??
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Last summer we camped on a site just outside charmouth town centre that I found on here it was amazing with all facility's a clubhouse 2 pools inside and outside a childrens playpark a mile from charmouth beach for fossils totally recommend it I'll find the link
We stayed at highlands end last August, lovely site big pitches with electric, two good shower/ washing up areas. Clean great park, hilly walk down to the beach stoney. Great bar/restaurant excellent home cooked food and good portions....good play park.
Indoor swimming pool, which you either pay extra for up front for whole time or just when you want to use it.
The area is where Broadchruch was filmed. Great cliff walks down to west bay. And good beach.
We are returning this Aug but staying in one of the new lodges as we are taking grandparents....

Thank you - another one added to my virtual brochure for consideration!!
West fleet ticks all your boxes been twice and had 2 great stays, not been since they built the bar area,if you want stunning views and a bit quiter try there sister site Sea barn about a mile away down a country lane and you can se the pool and bar etc at west fleet
Facilities at both are fantastic and you are close to the main tourist areas

I have to say, West Fleet is probably top of the list at the moment as it still appears to retain that traditional campsite feel (as opposed to a holiday park) and yet has the benefit of the pool, bar and magnificent views!!
Plenty of time to research more places yet though!
Can anyone recommend a good pitch number for EHU at West Fleet (as they are allocated)? Somewhere nice and flat, reasonably quite and not too far from the facility's (don't want much do I)!!

Both times we have been we have been I paddock D4 -attached is a link to the site map(if it works)
The first time we went we didnt request a pitch, the second time we wanted the same paddock and a specific pitch (and I think it was pitch 305 but can't be 100% sure ) the pitches along that run go from 301 to 309 and there is a break half way down which we wanted the to be next to
It's at the edge of the site so nice and quiet but but only a 2 minute walk to the facilities
During the Summer holidays they have some giant inflatable slides on the large play area and weren't overly expensive, the pool is heated so nice even if the weather is rubbish
