Hi

We were due to get married on 22 June and go where the fancy took us for a week. A fall downstairs and 3 fractured vertebrae have put paid to that plan, but we're still keen to have a week away and friends have offered to tow our caravan to a site for us. We're based in West Yorkshire and are keen to know of any sites close to decent pubs, restaurants and preferably sea. We usually spend most of our holidays walking and swimming in the sea, but both of those will be impossible, though I could walk for a few miles on a good path. It's inevitable that we'll have to make use of taxis and we're prepared to get a few a day if it's a few pounds each time.

Any ideas of towns, preferably seaside and sites are really welcome. We often go to Whitby and that's our backstop. Is there anywhere to rival the quality pubs, restaurants, shops, walks and views?

Thanks

Clare

How about Filey would not be to far for the tow, one of the holiday parks may be handy,

We stayed at blue dolphin a couple of years back and it had a bus service right to the door going to Filey and Scarborough.

At least with these sites if you do not feel like going out there is a pool, sauna's, bars and food on site.

That's a really good idea. We're looking at Brown's which is between Filey and Scarborough. It looks smaller and less busy than sites like the Blue Dolphin which has facilities like the pool that I wouldn't be able to use. It has good reviews, any other views before I book it?

Flower of May? again on a main bus route on the same road as Blue Dolphin, but less commercialised, as they dont have all the newspaper bargain 'cheap as chips' static caravan holidaymakers like Haven do, most are owner occupiers, both in their statics and their touring field, and they have a very nice bar and pool area, site shop, cafe, local pubs ect

Thanks, Julia. We prefer a small site without clubs and entertainment so I think Browns is more up our street. It's so important to get it right as once we're there, we're stuck.

We have just come back from Cayton bay holiday village. The bus stop to Brid, Filey and Scarbouorgh is right out side the site and it is a very short walk in to the village with a pub and a chip shop, the beach is about a mile away a nice easy walk did it with all the kids. Lovely clean site with helpful (if a bit strict) staff, no pool ect so not commercialised.....so this might suit your needs.

Hi

What about Filey Brigg?  It's on the cliff top in the country park, and you can walk directly onto the beach from the site.  It's a 10-15 minute walk to the pubs & restaurants in the town centre, and you could get the train or bus straight into Scarborough one way or Brid the other.
