After a few years since we sold our camping stuff and just returning from an all inclusive holiday in Greece resulting in me and my hubby getting severe chest infections and only just starting to feel half human again, we've decided we'd rather go camping and have been and bought a reliable outwell again!!! Only problem is trying to find the perfect place to put our trust in. Can anybody recommend a site 'up north' for our family? We have a 12 year old that isn't happy unless he's running around preferably with a football in tow, a 9 year old diva and an 18 month old cocker spaniel that is less trouble than all of us put together. Many, many thanks

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Should have narrowed it down - we live pretty near the a1 so were thinking of York or Harrogate to start with as they're both only about 45 mins away. We've stayed at rudding park - loved it but loos were miles away from tent pitch!
if you are willing to travel a bit further then Jasmine Park near pickering is fantastic..
------------- Oct 2013- south lytchett manor dorset
Feb 2014- Lady Heyes
April 2014- Jasmine Park
May 2014 - Jasmine Park Again....
July 2014 - Gwithian
Oct 2014 - Beverley Park
and hopefully many more..esp Jasmine Park..

Just spent a week at Cote Ghyll in Osmotherley N.Yorks it's a bit further up north than you might like to travel, but we had a good time. Toilet blocks were good, well stocked shop and you are only 15mins walk to the village. It's a bit awkward to get to towing a caravan but you mention you have a tent, and there were numerous tents pitched there, so it should be no bother for access for you.

We stayed at High Horcum Farm last year, a C&CC CS. We shared the site the first 2 nights with another family, then a couple with a tent came, the site was 3 smallish fields and we were camped in our own field. We're not really into the all facilities sites (pools, play areas, clubs) and had a great time. My review is on here, oh yes it's near Pickering with great views into open countryside.

Our favourite is Vale of Pickering, especially with children of that age. Beautifully kept site, very clean facilities. lots of space per pitch and great play/meeting area for children of all ages.
Thanks for all the tips. Going to look into them all, particularly Pickering. Wished we could have gone this weekend so jealous of you lucky folk who've been able to get away! When the weather is this nice who needs the hassle of planes, airports, lack of medical facilities etc etc...
Have a look at High Yedmandale. Loads of room for kids to run around, no play area but that just means that all the kids play together! More than adequate facilities and only 10mins from Scarborough and Filey.
Very quiet site, no noise after 10pm.
------------- Coming soon to a campsite near you, Jake, Mrs Jake, Little legs, Bosdog the Doodle and Olly the Cavachon.
2014:
August: Scarborough, High Yedmandale. Not tenting though, using one of their lovely holiday homes!
Not sure about the dog bit (you'd have to check) but I thought Studfold Farm was a lovely site. There is an area kept from from tents that kids can use for ball games, etc. It's about a 50 minute drive from Harrogate and is set in a beautifully scenic and remote location with excellent facilities.
