We are planning a 3 week holiday in July with the family. We have 5 children age from 4 to 13. We are looking at somewhere to go that has the following. Play area, nice stream for the kids to play in and within our price range. We live in st helens so wouldn't want anywhere more than a two hour drive. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Mark.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Have a look at Nantcol near Llanbedr. Real back to nature camping no play area as such but I can assure you your kids won't need it as there's a river to play in.(shallow with a rope swing and room for dinghies etc)
Barmouth, Harlech and Portmadog a short drive away (although the toll road to Portmadog has shut now for repairs to the bridge so it will take longer to get there. Shell Island very near and you can go for the day - fantastic beach. We only seem to go to Shell Island these days as it has everything we want and have never had any trouble with noise or overcrowding. Bit longer than 2 hours though = it takes us about 2 1/2 to get there from Northwich. Hendre Mynach at Barmouth is also supposed to be very nice.
I would second Nantcol. Visted last year and had a great time. Lovely site, great for kids, great walks and close to quite a few attractions although you would need to use the car. Facilities are spot on, pitches are huge (you are allowed to pick your own pitch) and they allow campfires.
