Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
My aunt is in Torquay area, however as I live a long way off I thought anywhere in Devon / Dorset area would be OK as I could stay there and travel down to my aunts,it would break up the journey, sorry I should have been more specific with my intentions.
Just realised that this might be better in the UK Sites section! (Perhaps the Mods will move it, if not try reposting there).
Cheapest option would probably be a Camping and Caravanning Club Certificated Site - possibly in the Weymouth - Purbeck area? - if you're already a member, or prepared to sign up on arrival, and remember some CS's are "own sanitation essential"
There are also quite a few good, reasonably priced commercial sites in that area - have a look at Norden Farm, Woodyhyde, Tom's Field amongst others.

The Devon/Dorset area summer traffic can be horrendous, so I would personally suggest you are as close to Torquay as possible, depending on how often you want to get into that area.
They are also building a bypass in the Torquay area, which when finished will make a huge difference, but as they say things often get worse before they get better and at the moment it is!! We went from Swanage to Torbay and the supposed 2.5hr journey took 4.5!! Having said that our 3hr journey home from Torbay took 7 (Love the M$/M5)!!!
I have never stayed there myself (stay with family), but I have heard good things about the Upton Manor Farm in Brixham. It is at the top of town, so involves a couple of steep hill climbs, but it has beautiful views and access to the coastal path and Berry Head. You could also get the ferry across to Torquay, missing all the traffic!! (Western Lady & Greenway are currently offering £1 trips).

I don't actually think you could get further away from Torquay whilst still being in Devon/Dorset that Purbeck. This would be a 2 hour journey down to Auntie's place.
Assuming you may visit Aunt's more than once, proximity and fuel cost should be a bigger factor than campsite cost.
