Hi all

I wonder if anyone can help?

Myself & my partner have decided to try camping while touring on motorbike but have heard that alot of campsites wont allow motorbikes is this true?

Can anyone advise us on cheap campsites down south that we could try out in the near future??

Cheers Elliot

Hi Elliot, welcome to the forum.

I use my motorcycle for camping and have never had any issues finding a site.

I just choose the area I want to stay and use the campsite search on here. When I've found the site I want I either ring or email them to ask if they allow motorcycles. I've never been refused yet. It might be different if there was a group of bikers going tho. The best thing to do is ask.

I've just organised a rally in Oxfordshire for September and had no problems with the first campsite I contacted.

Most parks in our area do not let motorcycles on the park.

Take the bike to Europe, every campsite, hotel, hostel will welcome you with open arms, I've come out to my bike in Spain to find the hotel had wrapped it in old sheets to 'stop it getting dusty' The anti bike bigotry stops when you cross the channel!

Try the biker loft in Belgium (great fun) and head off from there

Can't agree more.

Over the Channel is much more bike friendly.

Thanks markh1

We have been talking about going over to France for the od weekend & though we live in Bournemouth it would be cheaper to ride up to Dover to cross than travel from Poole.

Are campsites in France well sign posted & do you have to pre book or can you just arrive & book in?

Elliot, what bike do you have. Touring in France is easy, if you look on the camping abroad section you will find everything you need.

Ang, whats the name of your site, we like to go down your way.

Hi Elliot we've found most places accept bikes. I tend to just book online and say we're in a tent, never had a problem yet.
As already said, France is just fab. We love Arromanche Les Baines in Normandy is just lovely, very biker friendly. Colliioure is also really nice.
We live in the North East and love Squires cafe north of Leeds. Camping is free if you eat in their cafe which is well worth the money anyway plus they put on biker meet music type events at certain times of the year. We're going in August.
Lake district tend to be fine too.
In fact anywhere that doesn't accept bikes is not worth going to I reckon

A recent survey found that 93% of satstics were utter bo11ox!
In another survey, 10% of the men questioned preferred women with thin thighs, 15% preferred thick thighs, the rest preferred something in between!

If somewhere won't accept you on a bike then don't give them your custom in a car, that's what I say anyway. There are plenty of sites that accept motorcyclists and the ones that don't, fair enough. I only stay at sites that accept motorcyclists as myself and the hubby are bikers. If we aren't good enough when we are on our bike then we aren't good enough when we are in the car either. Of course, there will be reasons that sites say they don't like motorcycles. I've found the Cades Guide very good for weeding out those that do and those that don't.

There are plenty that do though so get out there and enjoy yourself.
