Just curious as to how many people go by the quality of a sites website when making a choice.
We have 2 young children(3 and 5)so a play park is essential for us, however you would be surprised at the amount of sites that say they have a playpark but show no pictures of it. Our childrens age limits their ability so we need to know wether the playpark is suitable or not.
I feel that in the age we live in there is no excuse for having a poor website, as most people use the web as a way to research where to go.
I am sure we have dismissed many a good site purely on the quality of their website.
Or is it just me?
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Depends on the type of campsite. If it's a CL/CS or a farm based site that are doing camping as a side line I can forgive a poor website, especially if they are just starting out. If it's a fully fledged commercial site then I'd think differently. I always go by the pictures (especially of the facilities/pitches) and would not book anywhere that does not show any photos at all.
After I've found my site, I always look via search engines to find any other info/experiences of the place and also look on google earth also just to check it's not right next to a main road or railway!
I have to say I don't go too much by a site's website as they obviously only use their best pictures and information as they are trying to sell it to you and so they want it to sound and look perfect.
I prefer to go by recommendations and reviews from fellow campers on here and then use Google Earth to see what it really looks like!
Yes I remember feeling the same about the play parks when my kids were younger as it was one of our 'essentials' back then. The park was always the most exciting part for the kids and it was nice to show them the campsite play park before we went as they loved to see where we were going. I used to try and google earth them as sometimes a play park meant a few logs and a swing and others a full adventure playground!
I can't believe the number of parks who still do not have a website, and even some of the bigger parks in our area have terrible websites. We have re-skinned our website this year, and will do so again in another few years to keep it current. Check it out and let us know what you think.
Google earth is ok but can be very outdated, Bing maps is actually more up to date in our area. Compare our Jasmine Park site on google maps and bing maps and they are 2 very different places - YO13 9BE for those who want to see.

If you are looking at maps, I would also look at the maps on the campsite listings on here. These are generally more accurate than Google or Bing maps using the postcode , as the campsites can manually move the pointer to the exact location, which going by postcode alone mostly gets it wrong, especially for the sites in the middle of the sticks.
Just had a look on both google and bing maps, our site had a new road, hook ups and we moved the site to the other end of the field. Both are still showing caravans parked by the sheep shed. So for us both are over 3 years out of date
------------- Visit Llandrindod Wells! Great scenery, walks, cycling, red kites. Ideal for exploring Mid Wales.
If the camp site cannot be reached via e-mail, then it is unlikely that I would be interested in staying with them, as I like to make e-mail enquiries and receive booking confirmation via e-mail etc...

google street view by us here is 5 years old....and even with a quick advance down the road, they are taken at differnt times. Its a good guide, but never up to date.
with arial views i also use 192.com as its got a better resolution and more up to date.
and crows nest...gotta say, i am v impressed by your interwebsite skills. Simple, intuitive and all the info i would want on it.
I always judge a book by it's cover or site by web site if no web site then I don't even bother (In todays market if a site can't be bothered to produce a web site then this gives a bit of an indication to their concept of a modern site)
As for web sites I do look at how well it is put together not so much how shiny but what info has been included (I have come across sites with tariffs two years out of date )
If you look closely you can some times pick out good and bad points from the pictures toilet block and pitches are what I look at especially.
An out of date tarif, or a tariff which is overly complicated with a base price then you have to add all the extras on, I find very off putting. I always always check the reviews on here.
