I have just emailed a campsite today that is taking part in The Sun From £1 holidays.

I asked for a quote for 2 Adults with EHU for two nights midweek (in fact next Wed and Thur) using two Sun vouchers.

The quote was £43! I'm still nursing my bruised jaw from when it hit the floor.

Not exactly a saving, so we are going where we normally go for half that price with no vouchers to tempt us.

Even after Monday and Tuesday the calendar says WTF?!?

I think the £1 sun camping is for a standard pitch, not a EHU.
We have booked up now at £1 a night for 2 nights, so don't need the EHU, there are holidays out there.

Tbh, and I may very well get slated for saying this, but I've always had the opinion that these holidays, and the Mirror ones, are just a con. Yes, the basic price may very well be just £1, which would probably cover one adult for one night on a basic pitch without ehu, but when you add on the cost for extra adults/kids, ehu, entertainment passes, upgrades etc, plus the daily cost of buying the paper in the first place, it works out expensive. Then of course there are the various t's and c's - mid week only, early or late season, can't use the tokens during bank holidays, certain sites only etc. Think about it - if these holidays really were only £1 per night the camp sites would soon go out of business!

No, I agree, you just have to play the game, for every £1 night away, we will usually manage a 3 or 4 nights at full price. It's a cheap way to try new places and return for a longer period.

Hi all, this is my first post so be kind!!

I wanted to go to The Shielings on Mull which was listed on the Sun's participating sites the other day, but seems to have dropped off today for some reason?

I called the site directly to see if they were still taking part and they were really nice and helpful confirming that I could stay for £1 per night as long as I brought a voucher for each night so they could send them back to The Sun to reclaim their money.  The ony extra's we'll need to pay are for a hook up for each night as we are only taking a tent with 2 adults, no dogs this time!

It's worth phoning the site that you want to go to before setting your heart on a price just in case!

We are going next Friday & Saturday night to Mull for £1 a night and the weather's supposed to be fantastic next week so we're really looking forward to it!

Good luck to everyone else who takes part in this deal - who cares which newspaper does the deal, there are some people who really benefit from these as they can't afford the usual price charged to just camp on a piece of land ;-)  It doesn't make us bad people, at the end of the day, we're taking advantage of The Sun as the sites still get paid their full fee ;0)

I did read on one of the other posts about the sun deals people's comments about the type of people who read the sun and mirror, but if it was "The Times camping for £1" a night, would it mean there would be a better class of people taking up the offer?

but still collecting the vouchers
