I've just booked this site for a couple of days with my nearest... It's only a short term site given the location and time of the airshow, so I'm not expecting massive luxuries.
Has anyone stayed here? I was wondering what the view was like, it says it's 600 meters from the runway :)

There are some reviews here. Even get showers by the looks of it.
You are about 20 mins walk from the main entrance and probably about 10 mins walk from the end of the runway. In theory you should get quite a good view of over flying aircraft from there.
I had read those reviews before booking, it seems to be a good place, though since booking I've discovered Rhymes Farm and now maybe regretting booking Townsend....
I'm sure it'll be fine - I've hatched a plan to attach the roof bars to the car so we can perch on those through the panoramic SRoof, should raise us a little to see over the hedge line :)
You are still not far from the action and as I say about 10 mins walk or a even less on a push bike from the end of the runway where you can sit and watch the aeroplanes taking off and landing for free (if you aren't planning on going into the show)
Our house looks out towards the airbase so we get a free show every year

Your house is looking towards it! amazing! I am extremely jealous right now :D
We'll have the entire day Saturday so will probably venture down to the runway. We didn't really wanna pay full price to get in as this will be my missus first airshow and I'm not 100% she'll like it - I'm going to gauge her reaction after seeing a few displays.
On another note, I had heard that a local garage sells the tickets half price on the day, is this right?

We are up on a hill looking towards Fairford so the aeroplanes do have a habit of disappearing behind trees every so often so don't feel to jealous.
Never heard about the ticket thing but doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
