we have just simplified our equipment and bought a pop-up tent with the intension of getting. many weekends away. working saturday mornings we thought go local-ish have sat afternoon stay one night enjoy sunday by the tent what more do you need. But we are finding that everyone ask that you leave 11-12 oclock-ish on the departure day so that spoils that. dont really what to pay two nights rent.(i am tight and poor}If we join camping club are their sites rules the same. any advise very welcome we are after camping  in derbyshire matlock bakewell area .

In a word - yes! You can't arrive till noon, have to leave at noon - that's one reason why I rarely use their sites, especially for a short weekend, it's just not worth it. You'll find though that many private sites will let you stay later for a small charge, it's worth an ask if you ring somewhere to book.

The main club sites have this rule, but a lot of the holiday site managers are pretty relaxed about it and will let you stay longer if it's fully booked for Sunday night.

But the clubs certificated sites usually let you stay as long as you like, with a few exceptions. I camped at one this weekend, and with a rare Sunday off work, asked how long I could stay. She said stay till 9pm if I wanted, so I had a nice lazy day and a very slow pack up and left at 6pm. If you join, you can ring a few sites and ask if you can stay longer than 12. Explain to them the reason you have put on here.

I always managed to get a late departure around 14:00h whenever I camped during non-busy periods.

Lowther Holiday Park in the north lakes allows you to turn up any time after 8.00am and stay until 10.00 on departure day.

If thers good access and thers room for new arivals   I think you should be able to stay till about 6pm, im sure the sites would get more people to do weekends because you would have nearly 2 full days instead of 1.

On one site we frequent, there is a country pub just outside the gates. Each time we have been packing away, our host has kindly offered to allow us to take our time, even suggesting we nip off for a leisurely Sunday lunch in the aforementioned pub, before returning to strike the tent. We haven't as yet taken him up on his offer, and are normally all loaded up and away for noon-ish (and THEN going to the pub!), but I suspect we will next time.

That aside, every single site we have been on so far, have advised us to "not rush", and not to worry about their respective rules regarding the advertised departure times.

A lot of these sites seem, to me at least, to be a lot more friendly and accommodating than maybe their site rules suggest!

I must point out, however, we tend to go for the smaller, private sites. I've no idea how "strict" these so-called holiday parks would react if your tent was still standing at ten past eleven!!!

both clubs are not flexible on sundays to have weekends we use other sites
that have weekend rates not packing up at 10am on sunday thats not a weekend, as a member of both clubs im thinking its not worth it any more they must be running them for people without kids or retired.

there are a few sites in darbyshire that will let you stay longer on sundays
