Hi peeps
Just wondered if there are any recommendations on the north east coast that are dog friendly....we have been looking near Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington area.... And come across Filey brigg campsite. Would the beach be doggie friendly in August.

We will also be camping for the first time with our 2 year old (after a 3 year camping break) so any recommendations for toddler and dog friendly in that area would be great. The search bar gives dog friendly campsites but I am wanting to know if the nearby beaches are pooch friendly too

Many thanks

Mamamoo

Just noticed its your first post. Welcome to UKcampsite.

The middle section of Fileys beach is out of bounds for dogs in the summer months but the part near the brigg and at the other end dogs are allowed. Filey bird garden is a lovely place to visit just out of Filey (you can walk and it takes around 20 mins) its also dog friendly. Love Filey and quite a few pubs let dogs in. Belle vue is dog friendly not the best deco but a very warm welcome from the owners and staff, even made a special fuss over our JRT.

Fraisthorpe beach near Bridlington is a fab beach that is great for dog and humans as well. There is a payable car park so it is more suitable for a day vist although the camping and caravan club will have a tempory holiday site there is summer. No toilets and showers for the campers although there is a small toliet block just before the car park entrance.

Robin hoods bay is very dog friendly heard that most pubs let dogs in.

Thanks travel bug fo your welcome and help.

That's great dogs are allowed on the beach near the actual campsite at Filey brigg. I just didn't want to get there and realise there was no doggies on that part...obviously main parts are no dogs in main season.

I may also look into robin hoods bay as I have heard it is lovely there too.

I suppose I will have to find what has availability too....

Thanks very much again for your help :-)

Scarborough also has dog friendly sections of the beach but become limited when the tide is in. we had a week in Filey and of May and went in 4 different pubs - all welcomed dogs. The Sewerby end of Bridlington beach is also dog friendly.

I live in Filey (lucky me!) The part of the beach below the Country Park, where the campsite is allows dogs year round. You will be able to walk along the beach to the Coble Landing and then into town, or along the prom. There is a nice walk from the camp towards the church, over the footbridge and into town. Would recommend Bonhomme's - real ales and dog friendly. Also The Imperial.

Filey Bird Garden is great ( small charge) and an easy walk from the site along the cliff top then back down to the main road.

Have a great time, hope the weather is good for you.
