Was meant to go to FForest Fields (long story about why we didnt) so booked to go here instead for three nights. Was so disappointed. Excellent location but the campsite/owners need to get a grip. Toilet facilities so dated, no hot water to wash dishes. Beautiful reception selling "yummy mummy" precooked dinners which are presumably for the log cabin guests.
Tents practically pitched on top of each other, shop didnt have bread, milk or eggs.
I am ranting now!!!!
Wont go back

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I couldn't agree more. We went a couple of years ago at bank holiday. Lovely situated site but was so over crowded went out after setting up and came back to tents next to us with guy roles crossing ours. Toilets horrid dirty, tiles falling off wall, taps constantly running as wouldn't turn off etc people washing up in laundry and generally not nice. Would have hoped some investment had been made to make it nicer but sounds like not. Will never go back until it improved, such a shame.
------------- 2015 sites booked so far: Cotswold Farm Park, Ninham IOW, still some more to book
As a local it saddens me that you have had bad experiences of camping within the Forest and hope that it hasn't put you all off returning and giving the beautiful Forest of Dean another chance.
Here is a link to a new campsite that has just opened up, it has two brand new toilet blocks and although the hard standing pitches are a bit bleak the camping field is much more pleasing with views to die for.
I camped there out of season in October, courtesy of UKCS as it was a prize for my tent review of my Hypercamp Escala 4.
I found the facilities somewhat dated and cleanliness could be improved, C&CC standard they were not.
However, I still had a good time as the site was quiet and weather was not too bad.
It is unlikely for me to return though as I had stayed at better sites for less, unless the facilities are updated and improved.

I have been visiting Christchurch since I was three, a good while now, but I have to say that we have switched to Monmouth sites in recent years as I found that Forest Holidays put prices up and did not improve facilities. The loos are ok but really ready for an update now but when I was little those blocks were not even built. They need to improve their game and lower the prices before I will stay again and for us that is really sad, as I love it there (Biblins, Symonds Yat, the walks etc..). Forest Holidays take note if you would like our business and more importantly, our recommendation back again..
