I am travelling from Bradford to the Pembroke National Park on looking for a route the site has come up with three possible routes
1 M62 A55 A483 A40
2 M62 M6 M5 M50 A40
3 M1 M42 M5 M50
There is about 100 miles difference, do I take the shortest route 1 or pick one using mainly motorways longer but all suggest about 6hrs.
Thanks in advance for your advice

Hi there. If I was you I'd take your option 3. But when you get to the end of the M50 at Ross take the A40 which after Monmouth keep straight on but it changes to the A449 and join the M4 at Newport rather than following the A40 as you'll have to haul yourself up the heads of the valley road. It's much easier coming back along the heads as more of a gentle incline but be aware there's a long stretch of average speed camera on a single carriageway road round Hirwaun. This would be much easier than what I'm assuming is your shortest route which is the A roads all the way down. And the M6 between Manchester and Stafford can quite easily be stuffed! Hope this helps and enjoy your holiday.
We live at Ilkley and have previously used A65 to Skipton then Clitheroe , Blackburn to M6, quieter roads but depends how close to Shipley/Ilkley you are otherwise route 3 for me.

Feb 2 nights Bridlington
March 3 nights Greatham Retreat CL
April 4 nights Crofton Hall CL
May/June Germany 15 nights
Depends on what time you'll be setting off. It gets busy on both routes but times will vary. On the M1 you'd have to clear Sheffield and Nottingham by 0700 and get a clear run down the M42 to M5.
You'd have to set off a bit earlier to miss Brums rush hour.

we do route 1 in February without the caravan, and its a twisty and hilly, OH says he wouldn't go that way if towing , and would do the motorway routes so 3
