I have been looking at websites on here and on the CCC all day and am trying to decide where to go for our 2nd camping trip.
I had originally thought that we would go to Graffham in Petworth but want somewhere a bit nearer and also I dont think I can use our wood burner (although Im thinking about taking a small gas burner but Im not sure).
So, we have a bell tent, we have a dog, we would like adults only but are flexible with this. BUT above all, I would like somewhere where our own pitch feels out of the way, private, secluded from other campers. I dont want to feel exposed and on view. I also dont want to have a view that makes me feel like Im at a tent convention or caravan rally.
We have our own toilet and washing facilities so they are not important. I dont want anywhere that allows generators.
We dont need electric.
We would like Kent, East Sussex or Essex at a push.
any ideas?

I think it may be pushing it a bit as most sites are booked up for bank hols, some even insist on 4 nights minimum. A nice little CS site we once went to was at Heathfield its behind a pub called The Runtintun and close to the cycle path that runs to Eastbourne, its in an orchard, see reviews on here. Smytham manor in North Devon is a nice site and tents have their own area in a walled garden, this site is adjacent to The Tarka Trail. both sites good for walking/dogs and cycling, J x

"We have our own toilet and washing facilities"...
How do you have that in a bell tent? We'd like the same :)

Sorry I didnt see your post, well we have a little portable loo which splits in half and has a flush. Horrible smelling cleaner stuff though (very chemically floral if you know what I mean), so we didnt use it the first time as there were no solids to deal with, but I will have to use it from now on.
The washing facilities are twofold. I have a bbq stand and this also has a lower shelf, and on this I put a big enamel wash bowl and then my wash bag and towels go on the lower shelf. Its set up all the time like that, during the day there is cold water in it for when you need to quickly wash your hands. But in the morning its my OHs duty to heat some water up and we put a bit of hot and a bit of cold and this is sufficient to have a nice wash. I even was able to wash my hair which I must do everyday.
Then we have a portable shower, quecha, its really good, I didnt expect it to work but it did really well. It holds 8 litres and we found that a shower used about 3-4ish. We fill it mostly with cold water and then a little bit of hot, it was too hot so we will practice with the quantities. You pump it up with the handle and press the trigger on the shower attachment and out comes your shower.
We have a shower tent, quecha again. We stand on a collapsible washing up bowl, square to catch the dirty water and then we put this in a bucket to empty away later.
Im afraid I was subject to much ridicule and questioning over this on one of my threads but I dont like using communal showers or shower blocks, it makes me feel ill and this is a perfect solution. We wont be going to large sites so have the privacy to do this. I used the wash bowl and OH used the shower on our first and only trip so far, but I plan to use the shower too if he lets me!

I liked the sound of those, but a few I contacted, and I cant remember if the above were contacted, were full as you said. So, I managed to book at Orchard Cottage near Canterbury. Its not as far away as I would have liked but I like the sound of it and the reviews.
