Due to illness it's only gonna be me and little legs going away this summer, we've cancelled the main family holiday already
I'm looking for a hidden gem in Lincs, Yorks, Notts or Derbyshire. It's only for a small tent, 3man. No electric (no glamping on this trip!). The site must have facilities for kids, playgrounds, games rooms, pool etc etc but still be a normal site (not a Pontins/Haven sort of site). If it has fishing on site then that would be even better. We'll be going for a couple of nights at a time with trips home in between.
Any ideas?
------------- Coming soon to a campsite near you, Jake, Mrs Jake, Little legs, Bosdog the Doodle and Olly the Cavachon.

August: Scarborough, High Yedmandale. Not tenting though, using one of their lovely holiday homes!

I should imagine that if you explained the circumstances to any site they would probably accomodate you.

Cheers all. Looks like we're gonna try a very local site to start with, has a small lake but no other facilities. Time for a bit of bonding as I don't get to spend a massive amount of time with him. Not a glamp camp but back to basics, let's see how he gets on with no hook up etc!
We're off to Brid (me and him) for the day tomorrow, culminating in a short trip out mackereling on a boat. Gotta make the best of a bad deal and if it means I get to spend quality time with him and take his/our minds off the big problem then it's all good.

Tattershall Lakes next door to RAF Coningsby. All you need plus option of electric. Nice and cheap especially out of season.
------------- Some days you are the dog,
some days you are the tree.
Goodbye tension, hello Pension!

I think for a bit of father and son bonding, you can't beat a bit of rough camping, find somewhere you can have a fire, use it to cook on. That combined with a bit of fishing would be perfect for a couple of nights.. Let the lad stay up late etc. turn it into a bit of a secret expedition without. Mum
