Hi
As normal I have left everything to the last minute!
I have been looking all night on the site for somewhere to go with my ten year old son for a few nights camping under canvas. Most that I have looked at seem to be booked.
I am looking to go from this coming Thursday 15th through Friday Saturday night leaving on Sunday.
Can anyone recommend a site that might have availability up to three hours from Barnet Herts? The site does not have to have lots of kiddie stuff as we will have some time to explore together. The site need not hav the most up to date facilities either. A toilet is the only essential thing in my mind. Ideally a site with wooded area to camp in but at this late stage I will take what I can get. Campfire would be nice as would a local pub within a walk but once again not essential.
Herts, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk Kent or Sussex are all options.
I have used the advanced search options but come up blank so far hence the request here!
Many thanks for reading this far assuming you did!! :-)

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
You say 'seem to be booked' have you only checked online? I've often found that whilst it may be fully booked on Web they often have space when you ring especially if you are happy to go non ehu.
We have stayed here 4 times and it's lovely, no website just by word of mouth, worth a try although there are no reviews for this year! but worth a call. High Creek Sands
If you've only got a smallish tent and don't want EHU it's always worth phoning. Most sites have odd corners that can only be used as a smaller non-EHU pitch so don't go on the website booking form. Make sure they don't charge you full price for it of course but in my experience, campsites are very happy to just make a few extra pounds from these odd sections or a corner of the camping field.
Looks like a real basic site without showers but I did manage to buy a Solar powered one from Maplin yesterday! I think that solar powered means that you put in 20ltrs of water and hang it up, then hope there is sun enough to warm it.. But I am with my boy and its a bit of Dad Son bonding time as I dont spend enough time with him, always working!!!
Even bought some walkie talkies!! Time to be a big kid at 54 years old!! Is that allowed?? :-)
Thanks for all the feedback and wish me luck with the weather...
