I've been so busy planning our wedding (which happened on Friday) for the last year that I didn't quite manage to nail the honeymoon bit.
We'd love to hear any recommendations you might have for a quiet, small caravan site, preferably with views (Caravan Club CL or similar) that would work for a weeks honeymoon in mid to late September.
We don't need fancy toilet blocks or showers, we can cope just with EHU. We do have a dog.
A pub that allows dogs within walking distance would be a bonus!
We live in the South Lakes and don't really want to spend hours on the road, but if you know somewhere spectacular that deserves a mention a little further then please give it a shout out.
I've spent several days already trawling the internet trying to find 'the' place, but nothing has really grabbed me and I'd really like it to feel special. If you lovely folk could help I'd be eternally grateful!
Many thanks, I'm desperate for inspiration at this point but determined to go somewhere!

The one with the best views is undoubtedly Keswick C&CC site but it does flood easily and isn't small, Keswick is only a 5 minute walk though.
Our favourite is Lanefoot Farm, it's a working farm and really informal, we had a good pitch on the right as you go into the main field and the views of Skiddaw were lovely, I'm not sure how far the nearest pub is but they allow fires on site so we enjoyed sitting outside the van with our own drinks around the fire.
As you aren't far away you could always do a shortlist and have a drive around a few one day then make an informed choice.
This was the view from our window at Lanefoot

Thanks IanAlbion, great suggestions. Lanefoot Farm could be just our kind of place, lovely pic, we do enjoy the farm CL's & we might just go for a drive over there this w/e and have a reccy, good idea.
Will be sure to report back - cheers!

Ah, just realised we've stayed there before (Lanefoot) in a tent about 5 years ago. It was great being able to have a fire but it was a bit too busy for us. Still a possibility, it might be quieter mid-Sept.....

It's a very small & basic site but the views are fantastic! There is a good pub close to the site. I can't remember if dogs are allowed in the pub but they also have a beer garden.
Hi Pupster. Congratulations to you both. Not sure how close this is to you but we have stayed at Church Stile in Nether Wasdale a few years ago. It's a bit out the way but the scenery is spectacular. There are two fantastic pubs a few minutes walk from the site. It was very quiet and relaxing when we stayed there and it was in August. Check out the reviews and see what you think
Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon

Thanks KrazyKamper, we're still on an adrenaline high from the celebrations!
I've not stayed at Church Stile before but I love Wasdale, it's such a beautiful spot with lots of great walks. It would only take an hours towing from us, so a definite contender. Just about to read the reviews.
Thanks for the tip off, can't wait!

Or this place in the Eden valley sounds nice, bit different and quiet location...might suit? Apparently part of the site is in a walled orchard... sounds very romantic...
Or another idea - Hadrian's wall camping. Lovely small site in quiet rural location, fab area. Don't miss housesteads and vindoland forts, they're fab.
Congratulations on the wedding or both of you, I am going to suggest something a bit different as you are in south lakes have you considered nipping up M6/74 to Solway firth this should take around an hour and a half there is a fantastic site called Hoddom castle just at junction 19 ecclefechan (check reviews on this site) we have stayed on several occasions now and it is really nice well kept has a nice informal club house the locals (static and seasonal owners) are very friendly the site is inland and well protected by mature trees just thinking the time you are going. From the site you are striking distance for the Solway coast, Gretna green and Carslie. Dumfries and Galloway has some fantastic walks and sea views.
