An odd question ... It is one of my ambitions to see an otter in the wild. Does anyone know of any campsites from which one might be able to spot otters (either from or within a short walk of the site?) we are NE England based. Thank you!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Otters have been spotted regularly by people staying at Killegruer Caravan site,Kintyre. They have been sitting on the rocks in front of the campsite eating breakfast. It's a long way to come from the NE of England so hopefully you'll find some a bit nearer.
Killiechronan Loch na Keal Isle of Mull. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=11548 It is a long way to go, but worth it. You are also likely to see Golden eagle and white tailed sea eagle. Book one of the wildlife tours and you will see loads of wildlife. http://www.torrbuan.com/
Stayed at Chatsworth CC site a few years ago and you could regularly see otters at play behind the wardens office from the bridge leading into the site forecourt.
Have regularly seen, several years in succession otters, seals & golden eagles in the wild in the West Highlands (Skye & Lochalsh area) - otters pinching bait off hubby's fishing line right in front of our very eyes!
down stream from The Caravan Club site - River Breamish, in Northumberland where the main road passes over the River Breamish there are road signs for otters in the area
