My grandson has been camping with his mother and me for years now but this is the first time he has complained about the lack of things to do at the site. We need to start looking for where to go next year. Can anyone help with advice for sites either in North and West Wales or in Norfolk? I am not sure he needs the full evening entertainment thing - just a site where there are some people in his own age group to hang out with.

Why not let him take an active role in choosing where he would like to go? Let him loose on this site, and draw up a short list of sites he feels might fit the bill with regard to things to do on and off site.

Would there be a chance for him to bring a friend along, as young people are often not that great at making new friends without the back up of another person to hang out with.

Hope this helps,

Jane.

I have to say this is something I've been thinking about lately. My kids are 7 & 4, we have several sites that we visit regularly and they love it but I've noticed a lack of facilities for teenagers pretty much everywhere. Young kids are well catered for, as our adults, then we moan about teenagers hanging around because they've nothing to do of an evening.

It does not have to be the campsite but a place where he or she can try things that interest them that they could not do at home.

1/2 day surfing, rockclimbing etc.

The simple things no longer interest them so gets expensive. But if he gets interest in surfing for example you could have ready made holiday for years to come.

How about one the big holiday parks in north wales Haven etc. Will have plenty to do for teens

Thanks. There are some really good suggestions there. I particularly like the one about getting him to help choose the site. (That's if I can get him off his latest game machine long enough).

Hope you do better than us then. When we asked our teenagers where they wanted to holiday, D said she wanted a sunny place with a beach and loads of boys, and S said he wanted to walk on a wet and windy hillside!

When our boys were aged 9 to 15 we always looked for sites that had an arcade and a pool for our main 2 week getaway. That was we could guarantee that there would be lots for them to do on site in the evening and loads of other kids of a similar age.
