Looking at some options for School summer hols this year and was thinking maybe Isle of Wight, as although we live very close, we've never stayed there. I know the ferry is very expensive but know we can either get a discount with the CC or by booking it via the campsite.
Was thinking maybe booking The Orchards or Appulcombe.
Has anyone got any tips?

We went in September. The ferry from Southampton (Red Funnel) cost about £89 via the CC because we were going to stay at their Southlands site. There are lots of offers if you book campsite and ferry together but generally they seem only to be for 5 day stays.

If your thinking of appludurcombe, check the dates with red funnel, but avoid wightlink.
We have already booked to stay there, and got a cracking deal through redfunnel.
The cost with wightlink was £176 for the return ferry tickets, plus the site fees of over £100 for the 5 nights that we booked.
The same ferry crossing with redfunnel came out at £130.
But on their website www.redfunnel.co.uk they have some camping offers, and the package was £141 for the return crossing and campsite fees (they broke it down on the invoice with each leg of the ferry costing £28.75 and the site fees £83.50).
The dates were limited over August, but our school holidays are slightly longer so were able to take advantage of this.
We tend to use the tesco vouchers for converting to days out vouchers and restaurants and get 4x value, so works out better to pay full price for the ferry in our situation.
Went over on the ferry in July last year and got a good deal for five days and five days camping with the van at Allphacombe (think thats how you spellit) we were lucky great campsite and fantastic weather, no issues with the ferry,

Easter - Bournemouth-
May Hereford, Trippinkennet farm
May - phoenix nights, -
June -Santa Pod Raceway
July- unsure-
August - Sunshine Festival and somewhere nice for the week
Sept - blackpool
October - shell Island with tent
I think we get the best deal with red funnel with CC and also is nearer to us. Only 1\2 hour to Southampton.
I'll have another look at red funnel but seemed to exclude whitsun and summer hols.
Hilarious looking at Summer holidays, sitting in a very rainy dorset.
